About the Role
Veterinary Eye Center Long Island City is a specialty practice focused exclusively on animal eye care, offering advanced diagnostics and surgical treatments. We are known for our collaborative approach, working closely with referring veterinarians to provide thoughtful, high-quality care and exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Run appointments including history taking and ophthalmic diagnostics (STT, IOP, fluorescein stain application).
- Communicate with clients regarding histories and medications.
- Fill medications.
- Assist with short procedures during appointments such as corneal debridement.
- Perform diagnostics such as venipuncture for bloodwork and blood pressure measurement.
- Input patient histories and create invoices for billing and estimate creation for procedures.
- Create protocols for anesthesia or sedation for ophthalmic procedures.
- Induce and recover patients from anesthesia.
- Monitor anesthesia and sedation closely throughout procedures.
- Troubleshoot patient anesthetic concerns and provide real-time treatments.
- Utilize paralytics during anesthesia for microsurgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist with pre-surgical diagnostics and patient preparation.
- Intake and discharge surgical patients.
Requirements
- Licensure in New York State required.
- An interest and excitement for Veterinary Ophthalmology.
- Experience administering anesthetic protocols in a surgical environment.
- Strong record-keeping skills.
- Experience with PIMS/practice management software (ezyVet is our in-house platform).
- Demonstrates strong competency in medical calculations.
- Proficient in EMR documentation with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and attention to detail.

- $33-$39 per hour
- $7,500 sign-on bonus based on experience
