About the Role
The Community Service Society of New York (CSS) seeks a part-time Volunteer Manager to oversee volunteer recruitment, partner engagement, community outreach, and program implementation for the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program on Staten Island. This role is crucial for engaging adults aged 55 and older in meaningful volunteer service to address critical community needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer recruitment plan, including events, outreach, and material creation.
- Represent the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program at community events to recruit volunteers and raise awareness.
- Provide information about the program and volunteer opportunities to prospective volunteers, facilitating enrollment.
- Conduct volunteer placement sessions and interviews, making referrals to partner organizations and maintaining communication.
- Engage with community members aged 55+ to understand motivations and barriers to volunteer service.
- Identify and test strategies to connect with hard-to-reach populations and under-served communities.
- Maintain and promote a roster of open volunteer opportunities through various channels.
- Collect and review data on volunteer activity, impact, and program effectiveness for compliance.
- Maintain program data and compliance records, ensuring accurate entry in Salesforce.
- Monitor incoming data from the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP microsite for accuracy and completeness.
- Generate Salesforce reports to identify trends, assess performance, and detect compliance issues.
- Collaborate with agencies and volunteers to resolve discrepancies and ensure grant requirement adherence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Experience working with older adults and volunteer management required.
- Familiarity with the Staten Island nonprofit sector and community-based organizations preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct outreach, recruitment, and public presentations to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
- Ability to learn and utilize Salesforce or similar databases preferred.
- Experience creating social media content and supporting digital outreach efforts preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
- Must successfully pass the National Service Criminal History Check.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
