About the Role
Sun River Health is seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner to support the Middletown and Walden sites. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for planning, evaluating, and delivering patient healthcare, with an emphasis on preventative measures and patient education.
Responsibilities
- Takes histories and performs physical examinations.
- Gives immunizations as necessary.
- Provides patient education and counseling.
- Orders appropriate lab work and draws blood if needed.
- Performs lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams.
- Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses.
- Consults with physicians regarding medication, chronic illness, and referrals.
- Maintains legible and appropriate documentation and reviews records periodically.
- Follows up on abnormal pap smears and reportable STDs.
- Attends case conferences involving patients.
- Attends continuing education programs to increase skills and knowledge.
- Attends provider meetings and participates in quality improvement programs and team assignments.
- Identifies and categorizes each patient’s age-specific grouping of needs.
- Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines.
- Provides safe and successful performance, meeting productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction standards.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care.
- Valid license as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
- CPR/BLS certification.
Skills
- Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures for nurse practitioners.
- Competence in delivery of health care to patients, including preventative health education.
- Ability to collaborate with other members of the Health Center to maintain high quality standards and achieve client satisfaction.
