About the Role
AHRC New York City is seeking a School Psychologist for its Middle/High School in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. This role involves diagnosing disorders, formulating treatment plans, and providing counseling to students and families within a 10-month program with a summer session.
Responsibilities
- Interviews families and studies medical and social case histories.
- Selects, administers, and interprets psychological tests to diagnose disorders and formulate treatment plans.
- Treats psychological disorders and adaptive delays and provides counseling to students and/or families.
- Selects approach for individual counseling and plans frequency, intensity, and duration.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary and child/student study teams in developing treatment programs.
- Provides support and supervision to psychology interns.
- Provides in-service training and workshops for staff and families.
- Provides counseling for families.
- Conducts functional assessments, designs, implements, and oversees behavior support plans.
- Performs duties necessary for compliance with regulations, including record-keeping.
- Translates, writes reports, and speaks fluently in a preferred language if bilingual.
- Serves as a member of department-wide education and/or agency committees.
- Provides services to students in a legal and ethical manner.
Requirements
- Masters or PhD in a clinical or treatment field of psychology from an accredited institution of higher education.
- School Psychologist certification/license.
- Bilingual extension or ability to apply for one if applicable.
- Ability to work effectively with staff and students with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities and appropriate therapeutic intervention techniques.
- Ability to communicate and develop cooperative working relationships with staff, families, and other agencies.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English; and, if bilingual, in other language of proficiency.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain statistical and data records.
