About the Role

Supervises, coordinates, monitors, and participates in the day-to-day operations of social services programs, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Prepares client and statistical records/reports, builds relationships with community agencies, and serves as a client advocate. Performs clerical and secretarial duties to ensure smooth operations and researches and writes grants as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and supervises the day-to-day duties of assigned staff.
  • Trains and instructs employees in proper methods and procedures.
  • Monitors work in progress and completion for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Provides input to performance evaluations and the interview process.
  • Interviews applicants to determine program eligibility based on guidelines.
  • Conducts needs assessments, obtains pertinent information, and establishes program goals for clients.
  • Refers applicants to other agencies if not appropriate for the program.
  • Develops client intake and case plans.
  • Instructs clients in completing necessary paperwork, including goals and budget forms.
  • Completes orientation check-off forms and obtains release of information forms.
  • Completes social histories on new clients weekly.
  • Meets regularly with clients to discuss and evaluate progress.
  • Prepares accurate and up-to-date records documenting client progress.
  • Monitors client behavior, group attendance, medication, and movement.
  • Receives incident reports and enforces disciplinary actions for infractions of house guidelines.
  • Refers clients to appropriate Corps programs or other agencies based on needs and program plans.
  • Completes discharge plans for clients exiting the program.
  • Transfers file contents to non-active files.
  • Prepares cards for follow-up mailings.
  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates group and individual crisis intervention sessions.
  • Plans group activities and focus.
  • Provides group participants with information offered by other community services.
  • Informs participants about the availability of group sessions.
  • Performs community education speeches.
  • Encourages client responsibility for the upkeep of their living quarters.
  • Supports client efforts and praises them for self-help.
  • Serves as an advocate for clients with other agencies.
  • Prepares and maintains case records and logs on all assigned clients.
  • Ensures the accuracy and completeness of case records and logs.
  • Prepares and maintains statistical records on all services provided.
  • Compiles and prepares monthly statistical reports.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports for donated budgets.
  • Prepares various correspondences and completes paperwork for program operations.
  • Prepares and maintains office records, reports, calendars, databases, journals, books, logs, lists, etc.
  • Updates, posts, and indexes information and inputs data into the computer.
  • Researches office files to locate specific information for reports.
  • Prepares and proofs various routine reports.
  • Compiles and records information and statistics for routine reports.
  • Answers the telephone courteously and tactfully.
  • Schedules appointments.
  • Greets and assists employees and external visitors.
  • Provides accurate information regarding office operations and services.
  • Attempts to resolve complaints calmly, courteously, and tactfully.
  • Performs routine filing of correspondence, forms, records, reports, and documents.
  • Maintains files in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Photocopies and shreds various items including correspondence, forms, reports, and documents.
  • Performs clerical and secretarial support for special projects, seasonal events, and meetings.
  • Prepares mail merges.
  • Serves as liaison to other agencies for prevention, assessment, and treatment of chemical dependency.
  • Obtains/coordinates assistance on behalf of clients.
  • Builds and maintains professional working relationships with community agencies.
  • Participates in meetings to educate the public on the Home Sweet Home Program.
  • Networks with other social service agencies.
  • Promotes a positive image of The Salvation Army and the Home Sweet Home Program.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.
  • Duties are usually performed seated, with occasional standing or walking.
  • Limited physical effort required for walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs) 5-10% of work time.
  • Work is usually performed in a normal office environment with minimal discomforts.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
