About the Role
The Appliance Technician II is responsible for the overall maintenance of kitchen appliances, performing refrigeration, electrical, electronic, and mechanical work independently. This role involves installation and related tasks, all performed within company guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Service, repair, replace, and maintain walk-in and reach-in freezers, refrigerators, ice makers, and milk coolers.
- Repair, descale, maintain, and replace dishwashers and electric or gas water and booster heaters.
- Maintain pumps.
- Replace valves, belts, filters, bearings, gears, and motor parts.
- Maintain and repair electronic combo-ovens, convection and standard ovens, steam ovens, industrial mixers, choppers, steam kettles, tilting braisers, and steamers.
- Install gas valves, electric fans, vents, thermocouples, pilot lights, and door springs.
- Repair and maintain heating and refrigeration units on food carts, and fabricate and mount sneeze guards.
- Install electrical lines by running conduit, pulling wire, installing outlets; and repair motors, switches, plugs, and appliance cords.
- Replace pipes, faucets, and reversing and standard switches; locate and repair leaks; repair or replace industrial garbage disposals, clear minor blockages from sinks and disposals; cut and thread pipe, and sweat copper pipes.
- Assemble a variety of kitchen racks and carts, and mount computer brackets for touch screens.
- Maintain records of materials and time spent performing maintenance and repair jobs.
- Recommend repair or replacement of specific kitchen equipment.
- Guide day-to-day operations of on-site Appliance Technicians, including training staff and planning/scheduling work for other technicians and subcontractors.
- Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment.
- Attend all necessary meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned, understanding that responsibilities may change.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ten (10) years of experience in journey-level repairs of kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, electronic, and refrigeration methods, current technology, principles, and practices related to institutional kitchens.
- Kitchen maintenance and repair skills, including circuit tracing and troubleshooting for electric motors, pumps, compressors, and electronic sensors.
- Knowledge of current refrigeration technology and EPA regulations.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
- Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Adequate manual dexterity to operate small and large kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work in wet, cold, hot, and greasy conditions inside and outside central kitchen areas.
- Ability to work in confined areas, including over ceilings, through crawl spaces, and on roofs.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Regular exposure to electricity, gas, Freon, motor oil, and other hazardous materials.
- Ability to lift over fifty (50) pounds occasionally, moving heavy kitchen equipment.
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively to employees.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
- Ability to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced casino environment.
- Ability to effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
