About the Role

Wenzel's is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager to support the Shop Manager in leading, training, and working with the team. This role involves preparing fresh ingredients, producing food items, and providing excellent customer service to sell high-quality products. The Assistant Shop Manager will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the store, supervise the team, and drive business growth through sales, cost control, and profit delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Shop Manager with leading, training, and working alongside the team.
  • Prepare fresh ingredients and produce food products according to company standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service and sell high-quality fresh food.
  • Assist the Shop Manager with the day-to-day running of the store.
  • Supervise the team and run the shop when the Manager is unavailable.
  • Ensure business growth by increasing sales, controlling costs, and delivering profit.
  • Develop and lead the shop team to build a loyal customer base.
  • Run the shop during the manager's annual leave for up to two weeks.
  • Ensure store schedules and objectives are met by employees.
  • Manage and control all aspects of the shop.
  • Assist with training, leading, and developing the team.
  • Greet customers and create an inviting experience.
  • Receive and check daily deliveries.
  • Assist with the management of branch stock and produce.
  • Maintain shop displays.
  • Have excellent knowledge and understanding of products.
  • Prepare food in line with specifications.
  • Ensure food and produce quality control.
  • Maintain the highest level of hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Work efficiently within a team.
  • Handle cash, operate the till, and manage banking.
  • Open or close the shop when required.
  • Run shifts at various times during the week and when the manager is on annual leave.
  • Drive sales and minimize wastage.
  • Provide great service experiences for customers.
  • Work together and assist the Shop Manager with leading and training the team as required.
  • Achieve consistently high standards.

Requirements

  • Experience with team leading or supervising within food service or a retail setting.
  • A good communicator with a track record of success in previous roles.
  • Able to take responsibility within a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to provide high levels of customer service.
