About the Role
Raba Kistner is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable Graduate Engineer - Geotechnical to join our engineering team. The primary responsibility will be to perform geotechnical and forensic engineering investigations and studies in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget.
Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical and forensic engineering investigations and studies.
- Coordinate and participate in field drilling and data collection.
- Classify geotechnical samples and assign laboratory tests.
- Interpret engineering data and perform engineering calculations.
- Prepare written engineering reports.
- Manage assigned projects.
- Support invoice and collection activities.
- Participate in assigned marketing responsibilities.
- Serve as a Graduate Engineer on geotechnical engineering projects, managing project coordination from beginning to end.
- Perform field-logging activities if engineering supervision is required during drilling operations.
- Prepare laboratory-testing assignments and assist laboratory personnel.
- Analyze field data and laboratory test results.
- Submit draft and final geotechnical engineering reports for review and co-signature.
- Develop a working understanding of applicable standards, specifications, and engineering practices.
- Perform field observation services in support of the Construction Materials Testing Section.
- Review prebilling invoices on assigned projects.
- Actively participate in specific technical and/or professional organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited school required.
- Engineer-in-Training certification in the State of Louisiana preferred or the ability to obtain within one year of date of employment.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience preferred.
- Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet company’s auto insurability requirements.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work in teams at different levels within the organization.
- Advanced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Must be self-motivated with good attendance record.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
- Work responsibilities require out of town travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations.
- Potential exposure to occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally taste or smell, drive vehicle short and/or long distances, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, focus vision and depth vision.
- Position may require protracted or irregular hours.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs.
