About the Role
Gold Star is seeking individual drivers who enjoy being home every night, love rural driving environments, and like the use of modern equipment. We offer feed and nutrition services and commodity trading in the northeastern U.S., primarily to dairies. As feed and commodity specialists, our customers count on us to originate feed for the mills, manufacture it according to their unique specifications and handle logistics for a safe and smooth delivery every time.
Responsibilities
- Organize, perform, and complete the delivery of commercial bulk and bagged feeds safely and efficiently.
- Operate truck in a safe and courteous manner, prioritizing safety in all delivery tasks.
- Maintain truck, including pre-trip checks and adherence to DOT and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness of the truck, including regular washing and cleaning of exterior and interior.
- Load, reload, and assist other drivers in loading as required.
- Inspect hatches, augers, and blowers to confirm operational status.
- Ensure feed is unloaded to the proper location/bin.
- Ensure accuracy and proper completion of all scale tickets, delivery papers, driver logs, and associated documentation.
Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements.
- Current DMV printout required as part of the application process.
- Driving record must meet minimum risk management requirements.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, including being courteous and safe on customer property, public roads, and company property.
- Demonstrates sound judgment in vehicle operation.
- Ability to pull, twist, bend, and lift 35 pounds to shoulder height as a repeated motion.
- Ability to climb in and out of the tractor using proper 3 points of contact.
- Ability to sit for up to 11 hours per day.
- Ability to operate a vehicle in all weather conditions.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Local area travel is required.
