About the Role
This role contributes to the success of ScotiaMcLeod in Canada by executing and delivering on individual goals and plans that support the team's business strategies and objectives. It ensures all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures, while championing a customer-focused culture and providing a high level of client service.
Responsibilities
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Ensure a high level of client service by supporting Advisors in client portfolio reviews, identifying client needs for Team of Experts services, gathering research and product information, entering client trades, and staying updated on regulatory rules and trading activities.
- Ensure effective client administration by following up on missing documentation, maintaining client files, checking daily trades for accuracy, responding to client inquiries, resolving issues, escalating issues to Advisors when appropriate, issuing instructions for client transactions, documenting client interactions, and understanding required documentation for all client account types.
- Provide marketing assistance to Advisors by identifying opportunities for asset growth and revenue generation, organizing client events, maintaining electronic marketing, and managing the approval process for marketing and mass communications.
- Support Advisor growth by reviewing restricted accounts, managing the Bank referral process, assisting in idea generation, reviewing commission reports, tracking External Household Program payments, and preparing/analyzing reports and recommendations.
- Contribute to the effective functioning of the branch team by building relationships, maintaining high customer service, fostering open communication, participating in team meetings, encouraging new ideas, sharing knowledge, and developing an employee development plan.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adequacy and adherence to business controls.
- Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
- Take initiative and work independently on all administrative tasks.
- Take direction from advisor(s) on client trading activity.
Requirements
- Post Secondary Education
- All applicable education, examination, and training requirements for licensing and confirmed registration as an Investment Representative with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO)
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Understanding of industry and firm compliance regulations
- Ability to take direction from advisor(s) on client trading activity
- Fluency in both Spanish and English, including strong verbal and written communication skills
