About the Role

The Audio Visual & Events Technology Specialist is responsible for the planning, operation, maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of the College's classroom, instructional, and conference room environments, as well as leading all event management duties. This position provides primary technical support for all audiovisual systems across campus and is the primary coordinator of all college and community events, ensuring reliable and functional technology for teaching, learning, collaboration, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and support classroom technology.
  • Support and maintain projectors, interactive flat panels, document cameras, projection screens, classroom audio systems, wireless presentation systems, microphones, amplifiers, and digital signal processors (DSPs).
  • Support, maintain, and troubleshoot Extron, Crestron, and other classroom control systems.
  • Perform firmware and software updates on classroom technology systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to maximize system reliability.
  • Coordinate warranty repairs and vendor service.
  • Develop and execute lifecycle replacement recommendations for classroom technology.
  • Assist with classroom technology upgrades, renovations, and new installations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and inventories of classroom technology assets.
  • Work with equipment manufacturers, service providers, and technology vendors to coordinate repairs, evaluate solutions, develop technical specifications, and obtain quotations for new equipment purchases and replacement projects.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot campus audiovisual systems.
  • Configure and support microphones, mixers, amplifiers, and digital signal processing equipment.
  • Configure and maintain wired and wireless microphone systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve audio and video system issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors and system integrators during installations, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Coordinate campus support for college ceremonies, commencement, Board of Trustees meetings, admissions events, faculty and staff meetings, community events, theater productions and performances, and external facility rentals.
  • Meet with event organizers to determine event technology requirements.
  • Coordinate campus resources, schedule space, equipment, and support for events.
  • Configure audiovisual systems, operate sound systems and audio mixers, and support presentation technologies for events.
  • Provide on-site technical support and manage equipment setup and teardown for events.
  • Serve as the primary event coordinator for campus event requests.
  • Consult with event organizers regarding technology needs.
  • Coordinate campus support for campus and community events.
  • Work collaboratively with Facilities, Public Safety, and other departments.
  • Manage event technology schedules and equipment assignments.
  • Ensure successful technology support throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to faculty, staff, students, and community users.
  • Respond to IT Help Desk requests related to classroom technology and events.
  • Develop quick-reference guides and instructional documentation.
  • Provide one-on-one and group training for faculty and staff on classroom technology operation.
  • Recommend improvements that enhance the campus technology and events experiences.
  • Assist with classroom technology refresh projects.
  • Assist with conference room technology upgrades.
  • Support campus-wide audiovisual initiatives.
  • Support technology standardization.
  • Assist with budget planning and purchasing recommendations.
  • Evaluate emerging classroom technologies.
  • Maintain inventory of AV equipment and related supplies.
  • Maintain documentation of audiovisual systems.
  • Develop and recommend campus standards for classroom technology.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and long-term technology replacement planning.
  • Participate in emergency response for technology outages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in information technology, Audio Visual Technology, Electronics, Media Technology, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • One (1) year of experience supporting professional audiovisual systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting classroom technology.
  • Experience supporting Extron, Crestron, or comparable AV control systems.
  • Experience operating professional sound systems.
  • Experience configuring wired and wireless microphone systems.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
