About the Role
Contributes to the overall success of Global Payment Technology by designing, developing, and supporting applications using Shell Scripting, C/C++, Python, and Java technologies to meet business requirements for payment processing systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement routing channels, templates, and protocol configuration adapters for SFTP, AS2, and Connect: Direct in IBM Sterling File Gateway.
- Perform Linux server restarts and manage code deployment across multiple environments.
- Provide technical leadership by supporting application development, troubleshooting issues, and mentoring internal teams.
- Collaborate with customers to address their requirements.
- Analyze client technology solutions to identify opportunities for optimization and process improvement.
- Monitor error alerts in the IBM Sterling Integrator production environment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate resolutions.
- Develop and maintain business process workflows, creating detailed design specifications and comprehensive documentation.
- Conduct testing of new software releases to ensure successful implementation without impacting the existing code base.
- Ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and efficient.
- Learn new technology and provide production support during business hours and off-hours pager duty.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot, and fix errors.
- Work in a cross-functional Agile team to deliver core business and regulatory solutions.
- Understand and apply the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in daily activities and decisions.
- Pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles.
- Ensure adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
- Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Java programming language (Java 17 and above).
- Experience with Spring Boot, Spring security, Spring web, Spring batch.
- Knowledge of RESTful web services and API development.
- Familiarity with database technologies such as MySQL, MSSQL & MongoDB.
- Experience with Spring Boot with Kafka connectivity.
- Experience in Docker and Kubernetes.
- Ability to test APIs using Postman.
- Strong skills in addressing coding issues reported by scanning tools such as Sonar, Aquascan, Fortify, Checkmarx and Blackduck.
- Frontend skills such as ReactJS, NodeJS, Javascript.
- Experience with version control systems (Github/Bitbucket) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins).
- Experience in dealing with JIRA ticketing system.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with other developers and stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of software development principles and methodologies.
