About the Role
As a Software Engineer Specialist, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining Nasdaq's market operations technology platforms. You will own the development and reliability of a complex, high-performance client-server web platform supporting real-time financial activity and exchange operations at scale. This role is ideal for someone technically sharp, solutions-oriented, and energized by working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and web applications using Java and modern web technologies.
- Lead architectural decisions and code reviews to ensure secure, high-quality, and high-performance software delivery.
- Build and optimize client-server applications supporting real-time market data processing, transaction workflows, and exchange operations.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, and QA teams for reliable integration, deployment, and support in Linux environments.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
- Maintain technical documentation and ensure adherence to industry standards, security best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience developing enterprise-scale applications using Java, SQL, and modern software engineering principles.
- Experience building and supporting web-based applications using React (or similar frameworks) within Linux-based environments.
- Strong understanding of client-server architectures, API development, system integration, multi-threaded programming, and performance optimization.
- Proven ability to build, deploy, and support secure, scalable, and high-performing systems while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
