About the Role
Department 428 Electrical Systems is seeking a motivated software engineer for the Monitoring & Control System Group. This group develops the Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Monitoring and Control (HMC) system, a networked system for signal conditioning and electrical flow paths for control, indication, monitoring, and alarms using sensor data. The HMC system utilizes network switches, servers, PLCs, and display panels, and involves developing software in C++, Java, and ladder logic.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and execute software code and associated unit tests.
- Support software functional qualification testing.
- Maintain cybersecurity, interface requirements, and specifications.
- Maintain formal software requirements documentation.
- Support system qualification testing.
- Support system/component logistics documentation, including technical manuals, ship system manuals, and operating instructions.
- Develop written correspondence, technical papers, and presentations for Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree with electrical, computer or software concentration.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the DOD.
- 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience relevant to the job description.
- Experience working in a Linux environment.
- Previous Navy experience.
- Experience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs.
- Experience with project management and systems engineering practices and principles including configuration management, Microsoft® Project and DOORS.
- Proficiency with C/C++, Java, SQL, and/or PLC ladder logic.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with developing hardened applications.
- Knowledge of Military system or component development for Naval Platforms.
- Familiarity with JIRA, Gitlab.
- Familiarity with microservice software architecture.
