About the Role

The Food & Merchandise Supervisor supports the Senior Director of Merchandise Operations in overseeing day-to-day retail and merchandising activities across MSG venues. This role is responsible for leading front-line staff, maintaining inventory integrity, and ensuring an exceptional guest and employee experience in a high-volume, event-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest example of customer-based service for our employees.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Assign and instruct employees in the details of work, observe performance, and encourage improvement.
  • Be highly responsive to emergencies in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Ensure productivity, performance, and adherence to company policies and standards.
  • Assist the Senior Director, Merchandise Operations with all managerial functions, including managing a sizeable staff.
  • Train, coach, and develop employees while assisting with the facilitation of operational policies and strategy.
  • Replenish and maintain inventory for sports merchandising divisions.
  • Oversee inventory controls and conduct end-of-period inventory counts.
  • Oversee scheduling, time and attendance, and payroll by utilizing company systems like Workforce and SharePoint.
  • Provide exceptional experiences for guests, partners, and team members by adhering to appearance and presentation guidelines.
  • Lift 25 lbs., stand for long periods, walk long distances, work in inclement conditions, lead and assist in evacuation of guests and employees, walk up and traverse downstairs, bend, and maintain constant motion.
  • Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and split days off.
  • Travel to other venues as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum years of supervisory experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of merchandise operations and sales techniques.
  • Arena or event-based retail management experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Computer proficiency with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Point of Sale systems, and Excel.
  • Demonstrate integrity, tact, diplomacy, and a commitment to company values and principles.
  • Maintain a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with a diverse group.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, training, and the ability to motivate a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective communication with multiple organizational levels.
  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized with the ability to multi-task in a high-volume, fast-paced, and deadline-oriented environment.
