Responsibilities
- Build and ensure professional and informative interactions with guests and staff.
- Complete allocated work orders daily or report inadequate orders for rescheduling.
- Comply with hotel processes for maintenance, installation, and repair.
- Perform painting, spackling, light plumbing, and electrical tasks.
- Use ladders and work at elevated areas.
- Complete tasks on/around rooftop areas, chillers, and water towers.
- Maintain and repair hotel equipment for full functionality.
- Follow state and government legislative codes, laws, and prerequisites.
- Identify issues, create solutions, and promptly resolve guest-related issues.
- Complete engineering reports daily to record shift activities or pass-on information.
- Respond to job requests from all hotel areas in a timely and effective manner.
- Collaborate with departments like carpentry, electrical, and maintenance for hotel renovations and repairs.
- Follow safety guidelines as a fire safety director during emergencies.
- Maintain up-to-date FSD logbooks with hotel activities.
- Communicate with the fire department and monitor the fire command station during emergencies.
- Make announcements to the building during alarms, tests, or emergencies as an FSD.
- Maintain up-to-date boiler cleaning logs and perform necessary cleaning.
- Record equipment and meter readings accurately and maintain clear logs.
- Perform guest room preventative maintenance weekly, monthly, or quarterly as per Chief Engineer's procedures.
- Change guest room and public area filters frequently as instructed by the Director.
Requirements
- Previous hotel engineering experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of Hotel Engineering experience, preferably in a New York City Hotel.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, painting/spackling, light plumbing, and light electrical.
- Great communication skills, professional demeanor, and appearance.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detail in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks.
- Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to work in a team environment and welcome feedback and direction.
- Capable of standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, climb up and down stairs, walk, and carry multiple objects.
- Flexible schedule to include day shift, night shift, weekends, and holidays.
- Local candidates only.
- U.S. Citizenship/Work Authorization required.
- 2-3 years of experience as an engineer working in the service industry.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds.
- Proficiency in MS Office and possess basic computer skills.
- Be able to work a flexible shift if needed.
