About the Role
A 31-year-old male in the Syracuse area is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist him with community activities and daily living skills. He enjoys whittling, video games, horror movies, cooking, bowling, and thrift shopping. The ideal candidate will be creative, engaging, active, patient, and willing to travel.
Responsibilities
- Assist with being active in the community
- Help teach daily living skills (cooking, housekeeping, etc.)
- Provide verbal prompting and encouragement for tasks
- Remain calm and supportive when the recipient becomes upset
- Allow the recipient to be alone when needed
- Download and use multiple apps for community-based activities
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Effective communication and organizational skills required
- Flexibility with assignments and schedule required
- Reliable transportation to arrive at the job site on time
- Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps and abide by Indera's technology policy
- Experience with individuals who may have occasional difficulties regulating anxiety
