About the Role
Manage accident and vehicle-incident claims, building the claims function from the ground up by establishing processes, standards, and reporting to leverage claims data for decision-making and cost savings.
Responsibilities
- Own accident and vehicle-incident claims across all markets, from first notice of loss through investigation, repair coordination, negotiation, settlement and closure.
- Build the incident intake and triage process, including what happens in the first 24 hours.
- Serve as the main contact for carriers, TPAs, adjusters and defense counsel, holding them to clear expectations.
- Run subrogation and recovery as a workstream.
- Partner with market leaders to translate accident trends and risk patterns into operational changes.
- Build claims reporting for leadership, including frequency, severity, cost per vehicle, and open-claim aging.
- Transition claims to a proper system and support insurance renewals with clean loss data.
- Ensure compliance with state requirements in CA, GA, FL, and new markets.
- Build the team as volume increases.
Requirements
- 7+ years in auto, fleet, transportation or commercial auto claims, including end-to-end ownership of a claims function or program.
- Experience with third-party liability and bodily injury claims.
- Strong claim-file judgment and experience working with TPAs and defense counsel.
- Confidence in pushing back on carriers regarding reserves and coverage.
- Multi-state experience, ideally including California.
- A methodical approach and comfort in building processes where none exist.
