About the Role
The Therapeutic Residential Group in Berlin-Wedding supports pregnant women with a migration background and mothers with children under six who need assistance with living together with their child due to mental illness or severe life crises. A multidisciplinary, interculturally trained team provides 24/7 support in a therapeutic setting.
Responsibilities
- Key support for mother and child, counseling and support on everyday and parenting issues.
- Support in establishing and stabilizing an appropriate parent-child relationship.
- Promoting mothers' parenting skills.
- Support with daily life management.
- Accompanying and supporting with authorities and government agencies.
- Educational diagnostics and development of support plans.
- Crisis support and intervention, including assessment of potential child endangerment and development/implementation of a protection concept.
- Partial compensatory assumption of childcare if the situation requires it.
- Work with language and cultural mediators.
- Documentation of care and creation of progress reports.
- Communication and exchange with cooperation partners and contact persons.
- Case discussions and coordination of care and therapy planning within the multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
- Professional qualification as a social worker, social pedagogue, educator, or state-recognized remedial teacher.
- Specific experience working with individuals with mental illnesses and with individuals with migration experience.
- Professional competence in dealing with infants and toddlers and in counseling and supporting parents.
- Experience in crisis intervention and child protection.
- An appreciative and respectful attitude towards the pedagogical/social-therapeutic challenges of mothers and children.
