About the Role

The Team Aide participates in direct and indirect patient care activities to support the multidisciplinary care plan, under the direction of an RN or RPN, to ensure excellent patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Performing basic patient care functions that contribute to the implementation of the multidisciplinary care plan.
  • Assisting with patient nutritional needs and contributing to patient information collection/documentation.
  • Practicing infection control and safety measures to maintain high standards of patient care and safety.
  • Ensuring a clean and safe environment for patient care and treatment.
  • Contributing to patient assessment and performing transportation functions.
  • Performing departmental duties while adhering to confidentiality policies.
  • Monitoring and replenishing inventory of medical and other supplies.
  • Performing transport functions, including the movement of patients, equipment, and supplies in a timely manner.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting equipment, supplies, procedure rooms, patient rooms, and other areas to maintain infection and safety controls.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school.
  • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
  • Demonstrated independence, a positive attitude, and willingness to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to facilitate unit functioning and smooth patient care flow.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent level of productivity and efficiency.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a courteous manner.
  • Ability to perform duties professionally and courteously, producing high-quality work while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment with multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy.
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Client service orientation with the ability to work effectively with diversity.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, stooping, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching continuously without discomfort.
  • Ability to transfer patients with appropriate assistance.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift in excess of 40 kg.
  • Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period and have a good employee record with satisfactory attendance.
