About the Role

The Development Assistant provides essential administrative support and analytical skills to the Stewardship and Philanthropic Services (SPS) arm of the Philanthropic Leadership Group (PLG) department. This role supports three professionals on the PLG team and collaborates across the broader team on events, research, and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to navigate and maintain a sophisticated donor database.
  • Generate gift reports using the database.
  • Build internal relationships and navigate departments to complete tasks.
  • Assist in the development of fundraising materials, including assembling mailings, processing gifts, and preparing paperwork.
  • Staff in-person fundraising and volunteering events and site visits, potentially requiring time outside business hours.
  • Respond to donor requests in a timely manner via email.
  • Track event attendance and communicate with major donors.
  • Support professionals with daily tasks, calendar management, and meeting scheduling.
  • Prepare for internal, external, and donor meetings, including logistics and material preparation.
  • Document donor meetings and significant correspondences for accurate record-keeping.
  • Track and research prospective donors, maintaining charts for engagement strategy.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as routing mail, filing, photocopying, and faxing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and related administrative experience.
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new databases.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Positive work ethic.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Effective time manager with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
