About the Role
The Penguin Random House Rights teams help authors go global by selling UK books into other markets and channels, including North American rights, translation rights, and dramatisation rights. As a Rights Assistant, you will support a fast-paced team with administrative and sales tasks, manage projects, and work to deadlines to ensure high-quality service.
Responsibilities
- Produce creative presentations of rights business, working with the Penguin brand team.
- Help to organise rights events such as author receptions or virtual webinars and team socials.
- Provide administrative support, such as invoicing, processing contracts, creating reports and minute-taking.
- Provide sales support including book fair scheduling, travel booking, expenses, loading of deals on to database.
- Negotiate, sell and supply production files to customers.
- Prepare sales material in advance of sales trips.
- Negotiate and renew expired licences.
- Work collaboratively with other assistants in the team to improve ways of working.
Requirements
- Passion for books.
- Outgoing and creative.
- Fast learner with confident IT and data skills (MS Office Excel/Word/Outlook).
- Able to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
- Detail-oriented.
- Strong organisation skills.
- Confident in networking and building relationships.
- Good understanding of managing multiple stakeholders at varying seniorities.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven written ability showcased through your application.
