About the Role
Amazon is seeking a Category Manager to strategically source goods and services globally for Worldwide Operations. This role involves setting category strategy, leading sourcing teams, negotiating with suppliers, and partnering with senior stakeholders to achieve savings, mitigate risk, and improve productivity. The position will also focus on modernizing the procurement process using AI and automation.
Responsibilities
- Establish global category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams, negotiate with suppliers, and execute contracts.
- Provide guidance on the development, execution, and management of category sourcing strategies.
- Identify, achieve, and report on savings and value targets for all category sourcing activities.
- Collaborate with business teams and procurement functional areas as the global category procurement expert.
- Partner with businesses and key stakeholders to optimize supplier relationships for innovation, value realization, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation.
- Lead the negotiation and implementation of supplier agreements/contracts.
- Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the portfolio.
- Act as a market intelligence provider for the category, anticipating strategic opportunities and informing stakeholders on market shifts.
- Help develop long-term department strategies and influence cross-company project development, delivery processes, and standards.
- Reimagine the procurement process end-to-end using AI, identifying and deploying AI/automation to eliminate manual steps.
- Use AI-driven tools to accelerate market and supplier intelligence, benchmark pricing, and identify consolidation opportunities.
- Build repeatable, data-driven playbooks and standardized workflows that scale across WWOps.
- Partner with internal tech, finance, and procurement operations teams to pilot and adopt AI capabilities.
- Establish metrics that quantify efficiency gains and report on them as a core deliverable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience in defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience in strategic sourcing including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational and financial analysis
- Experience with program management spanning planning, execution and project delivery
