About the Role
St. John's Riverside Hospital is seeking a Radiology Technologist to produce radiographs of various parts of the body, position patients, and assist radiologists in X-Ray procedures. The role involves preparing patients, drawing contrast media, mixing barium, and maintaining daily logs, all while adhering to safety protocols and hospital mission statements.
Responsibilities
- Produce radiographs of various parts of the body.
- Position patients under the X-Ray machine and regulate technical factors.
- Assist radiologists in X-Ray procedures.
- Prepare patients, draw contrast media, and mix barium.
- Maintain a daily work log.
- Position and transfer patients to and from the x-ray table using proper safety techniques.
- Select proper technical factors for examination.
- Develop film by automatic or daylight processing.
- Assist physicians in administering opaque media and during fluoroscopy exams.
- Mix barium for contrast exams.
- Draw up contrast media for opaque exams using sterile technique.
- Dispose of biomedical waste using CDC and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain a daily worksheet for the assigned room.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned rooms.
- Rotate radiographic/fluoroscopic/OR room when assigned.
- Maintain adequate room supplies, including respiratory and suction tubing.
- Follow all Federal, State, and hospital health safety codes, especially in reference to Radiation, electrical, and mechanical safety.
- Provide explanations of tests to patients.
- Obtain signatures on consent forms.
- Use a particulate respirator (mask) when exposed to patients with suspected or known TB.
- Review and incorporate the Hospital and Department Mission Statements in daily work activities, as well as QA goals, procedures, and models.
Requirements
- Current NYS license/registration in Radiologic Technology.
- Graduate of an approved school for Radiologic Technology.
- ARRT registered.
- Strong verbal communications and customer service orientation.
