About the Role
As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Haematology, you’ll play a vital role in delivering a responsive and accurate diagnostic service that supports clinical decision making and patient care. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary laboratory environment, you'll undertake the processing, analysis, validation, and reporting of samples while contributing to the smooth day to day running of the department. You'll have the opportunity to expand your expertise across a broad range of haematology procedures, work with advanced laboratory technology, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Supported by experienced leaders and colleagues, you'll be encouraged to develop your skills, maintain professional registration, and access ongoing learning opportunities that support long term career growth within HCA Healthcare UK.
Responsibilities
- Perform the accurate processing, analysis, validation, and reporting of haematology samples within agreed turnaround times
- Support the day to day operation of the Haematology department, ensuring high standards of quality and service delivery
- Participate in weekend and, where required, multidisciplinary night shift rotas
- Maintain quality assurance processes, including internal quality control and external quality assessment schemes
- Liaise effectively with laboratory colleagues, Specimen Reception teams, and service users to provide an efficient diagnostic service
Requirements
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
- Proven experience working within a haematology laboratory environment
- Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining up to date professional knowledge
- Strong understanding of quality management, laboratory procedures, and regulatory requirements
- A positive, collaborative approach with excellent communication and organisational skills
