About the Role
In this role as a Driver/Labourer, you will act as the interface between customers and the company, providing a professional and efficient delivery service while upholding company safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Act as an interface between customers and the company by providing a professional and efficient delivery service.
- Be responsible for load security at all times.
- Abide by the Company’s 12 Life Saving Rules.
- Effect an efficient and satisfactory multi-drop delivery service to customers.
- Abide by the current Safety, Health and Environment policy, prioritizing the safety of staff, customers, and the public.
- Be responsible for the safe handling of cash and cheques for Cash Sale deliveries and account settlements.
- Operate the company’s ISO 9000 Quality Assurance System as applicable to duties.
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment when required.
- Ensure that any and all vehicles under control are kept secure at all times.
- Ensure all applicable Company policies are carried out efficiently and that necessary paperwork is completed daily.
- Maintain the cleanliness of any allocated vehicle and carry out daily Company and Statutory checks.
- Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order (in line with ADR).
- Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures under ADR.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals and checking vehicle and loading equipment.
- Drive a FLT to load and unload your vehicle and others if required.
- Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
- Maintain logs of working hours following applicable regulations (Driver Hours WTD/Digital Tachographs).
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, incidents, traffic violations, or any damage to vehicles or property.
- Willingly participate in suitable training provided by the Company, including manual handling training of cylinders and packaged gases.
- Maintain confidentiality of any access to information of a confidential nature.
Requirements
- Minimum HGV Class 2.
- Full Clean Driving Licence.
- Driver’s CPC Card.
- ADR with Core and Packages and UN Class 2.
- Experience of Multi-Drop Deliveries and knowledge of Local/Regional Areas.
- Willingness to undergo Company Medical if required.
- Disclosure of any unspent convictions.
- Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
- Flexible approach to overtime with a “Can Do” attitude.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
