About the Role

Contributes to the overall success of Global Payments Technology in Canada and globally, ensuring individual goals align with team strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Writes clean, maintainable, and well-documented code under guidance.
  • Helps document software features and performs reviews with team members.
  • Participates in code reviews, unit testing, and debugging.
  • Learns and adapts to CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment practices.
  • Follows guidance from senior team members and leads.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adequacy and adherence to business controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Java, JavaScript, Python.
  • Basic understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs.
  • Understanding of CI/CD and version control (Git).
  • Interest in cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Eager to learn and grow in a collaborative environment.
