About the Role

The Constituency Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and day-to-day operations of the Toronto Centre Constituency Office, reporting directly to the Member of Parliament. This role involves leading the constituency team, ensuring effective delivery of constituent services, casework, stakeholder relations, community outreach, and office administration. The Director will establish priorities, manage staff and resources, oversee office systems, and support the Member in responding to constituent needs. Additionally, the role serves as the senior advisor on constituency matters, identifying local issues, coordinating responses, and ensuring effective communication between various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall leadership and operational management of the Toronto Centre Constituency Office by overseeing office administration, constituent services, stakeholder relations, and projects, while fostering a collaborative, high-performing workplace and ensuring effective, timely service delivery to constituents.
  • Leads and supports a high-performing constituency office team by fostering employee development, promoting a positive workplace culture, and overseeing financial and administrative resources to ensure the effective delivery of services to constituents.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of constituent services by ensuring the delivery of responsive, high-quality support, guiding the team, and promoting a consistent, client-focused experience for constituents.
  • Leads community engagement and stakeholder relations by fostering strong partnerships, identifying opportunities for outreach and collaboration, and helping ensure the Member remains connected to the priorities and needs of Toronto Centre residents and organizations.
  • Provides strategic advice and support to the Member by monitoring constituency priorities and emerging issues, coordinating briefing materials and stakeholder information, staffing the Member at local public events, and preparing speeches, remarks and other materials for those events.
  • Works with constituency, parliamentary and government staff to advance the needs and interests of Toronto Centre residents and organizations.
  • Oversees the Member’s constituency communications and branding, including mailers and materials promoting local events, to ensure clear, consistent and timely communication with residents and community partners.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution, or an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant professional experience.
  • Significant experience in team leadership, office management, public service, government, politics, community engagement or a related field.
  • Significant experience managing staff, operational priorities and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Exceptional organizational and priority-setting skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent judgment and demonstrated ability to make sound decisions independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with constituents, community organizations, government officials and other stakeholders.
  • A high degree of discretion, tact and diplomacy, particularly when dealing with confidential, sensitive or politically complex matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to public service and to providing respectful, responsive and professional service to constituents.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian parliamentary system, federal government departments, programs and services.
  • Experience working in a political office, government environment, constituency office, community organization or public-facing organization.
  • A strong understanding of Toronto Centre, its neighbourhoods, communities, organizations and local issues.
  • Experience working with elected officials, government departments or community stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial administration, budgeting and human resources.
  • Proficiency in English.
