About the Role
We are KUGU, making buildings energy-efficient and future-proof with our AI-powered SaaS platform for energy data. We aim to be the leading energy data platform in Europe and are seeking a General Counsel to join us in Berlin.
Responsibilities
- Assume overall responsibility for all legal matters.
- Draft and negotiate complex commercial B2B contracts in the SaaS, IoT, and AI environment.
- Ensure compliance with current IT regulations (e.g., Data Act, AI Act, GDPR).
- Address relevant energy law developments.
- Oversee corporate law matters and the legal aspects of financing rounds (with external law firms).
- Collaborate directly with management and support departments with legal issues (including employment law and IP).
- Implement AI solutions and manage external law firms to optimize legal processes.
- Represent the company in negotiations with B2B clients while safeguarding interests.
- Explain legal requirements understandably to various teams.
- Develop solutions aligned with KUGU's commercial interests from an entrepreneurial perspective.
Requirements
- Two state law examinations, with at least one achieving a 'very good' (vollbefriedigend) result.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with a technology focus in a law firm or company.
- Willingness to work on a variety of legal topics in the technology and energy sector.
- Ability to represent the company in negotiations with B2B clients and protect its interests.
- Experience working interdisciplinarily with different teams and explaining legal requirements clearly.
- Viewing legal frameworks and contracts from a business perspective and independently developing solutions aligned with commercial interests.
- Negotiation proficiency in English (C1) and German (C2).
