About the Role
The NYC Department for the Aging (NYC Aging) promotes and supports inclusive, safe, and affordable healthy aging. The NYC Aging Connect unit seeks a dynamic, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to serve as an Aging Specialist, promoting agency services and priorities within NYC communities.
Responsibilities
- Directly engage community members, caregivers, service providers, and other external stakeholders seeking information on resources, services, and opportunities for older adults via calls and emails.
- Resolve concerns and issues through calls and emails.
- Accurately document and track calls in NYC Aging’s Correspondence Tracking System (CTS).
- Represent NYC Aging at community events, resource fairs, and community organizations.
- Deliver presentations to external partners across the City.
- Facilitate and/or participate in internal and external training sessions.
- Prepare training materials and deliver training content.
- Engage stakeholders to ensure consistent understanding of program procedures, resources, and service standards.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support NYC Aging’s mission and advance the goals of the Bureau of External Affairs.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities related to the duties described.
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities related to the duties described.
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with at least one year of experience as described in the first qualification.
