About the Role
The Bureau of Child Care ensures child care services in New York City comply with health and social service regulations. This role supports the Bureau's licensing activities, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality customer service.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate community resources, and perform liaison functions between child care providers, agencies, community groups, parents, and the public regarding licensing rules.
- Supervise Registrars and support staff, ensuring timely assignment and processing of applications.
- Conduct final review of applications and make recommendations for registration or licensure.
- Assure accurate and organized maintenance of application records.
- Oversee daily communication with child care providers regarding compliance with health and safety guidelines.
- Tabulate and submit records and reports to leadership concerning unit work.
- Maintain professional knowledge of child care regulations, bureau protocols, and database applications.
- Make presentations at community meetings and health fairs to promote licensed providers and encourage reporting of illegal operations.
- Travel to Albany, NY for training and to other locations in the State for an annual NYS Regulator’s meeting (expenses paid).
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described.
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described.
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with at least one year of experience as described in the first point.

- $62,868 - $72,298 USD
