About the Role
The Jr. Quality Engineer contributes to and/or leads Quality System projects to plan inspection and testing activities required during production to achieve the manufactured final product. This position will coordinate, assess, and maintain quality activities related to the implementation of the part production approval process in compliance with company policies.
Responsibilities
- Participate in CAPA/ Continuous improvement/ PDCA processes and activities.
- Review and release new or updated Production control plans and Qualification runs.
- Implement, maintain, and train to current Quality methods.
- Lead and participate in implementing/adhering SPC methods for data collection.
- Maintain and collaborate with QC on the application of Inspection protocols, Testing Plans/ Production Control Plans.
- Lead and collaborate, as applicable, in the consistent performance of Gauge R&R / MSA across all operators and measurement tools.
- Conduct internal audits and audit plans, ensuring Testing Plans/ Production Control Plans are understood and followed in production, shipping, and receiving.
- Coordinate efforts with the parent company to leverage global quality planning activities and initiatives.
- Act as liaison with Corporate HQ in Germany regarding MSAs, Gage R&Rs, raw material specifications, sampling, and other quality activities.
- Engage in new production activities with Product Development (PPD).
- Manage PPAP, as applicable to quality processes within the organization.
- Contribute to IATF 16949 development.
- Ensure machinery, equipment, and facilities related to quality control and quality assurance are properly maintained.
- Maintain and create positive long-term relationships with production personnel and internal staff.
- Ensure compliance with company requirements for safety and confidentiality.
- Attend relevant industry conventions, seminars, and webinars as applicable.
- Participate in Department Meetings.
- Perform other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
- Authority to stop the manufacturing and distribution process in case of serious quality issues, machine, or system disturbances.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or other related field.
- 2-5 years’ experience with quality engineering and management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of cGMP/QSR, ISO and FDA device/drug/biologics regulations, and / or automotive industries, IATF 16949 standard, VDA regulations.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S and other productivity and quality improvement methods.
- Experience with OSHA and other regulations and rules that affect safety.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Intermediate to advanced level of computer knowledge in the Microsoft Office Suites.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, manuals, and manufacturing documents including financial data.
- Ability to lift 30-50 pounds.
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Work activity requires repetitive bending, reaching, walking, stopping, crouching, lifting, and climbing.
- Regular use of fingers and hand when working with material and equipment.
