About the Role

LGT Wealth Management UK LLP is seeking a professional to own the operation of the T&C framework, partner with leaders to define competence standards, and deliver a risk-based T&C plan. This role involves maintaining T&C policies, leading competence assessment support, and providing targeted coaching. The objective is to develop regulatory supervisors, produce insightful MI, and analyze T&C data to identify root causes and necessary interventions. The role also entails managing records, collaborating with internal teams, and building external relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operation of the T&C framework for certificated and other in-scope populations.
  • Partner with front office leaders and regulatory supervisors to define role-relevant competence standards, assessment evidence, and development actions.
  • Deliver a risk-based annual T&C plan that reflects business strategy, regulatory change, conduct themes, quality findings, incidents, complaints, and client-outcome considerations.
  • Maintain the T&C policy, procedures, role profiles, assessment templates, and guidance.
  • Lead annual competence assessment and certification support activity for the relevant population.
  • Provide targeted coaching, group sessions, and practical support for new joiners and colleagues requiring development.
  • Develop the capability of regulatory supervisors so that supervision is meaningful, documented, timely, and focused on both technical competence and behaviour.
  • Produce accurate, insightful MI on competence status, overdue actions, assessment outcomes, CPD, themes, and emerging risks.
  • Analyse T&C data alongside quality assurance, compliance monitoring, conduct, and performance information to identify root causes and determine whether intervention is needed.
  • Maintain appropriate records within the firm’s systems, safeguarding data accuracy, confidentiality, retention, and readiness for audit or regulatory review.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk, HR, Operations, and the wider Training & Development team on regulatory change, control enhancements, learning initiatives, and cross-functional projects.
  • Build effective relationships with relevant external professional bodies and suppliers.
  • Lead a pragmatic and commercial Training & Development strategy that supports the Firm’s aims, client proposition, progression pathways, culture, leadership, and evolving skills needs.
  • Deliver high-quality learning across technical competence, leadership, risk and conduct, professional development, digital skills, and mandatory learning.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and Group Centres of Excellence to deliver annual succession planning.
  • Align learning with talent, performance, succession, reward, recruitment, wellbeing, inclusion, and processes.
  • Assess how AI, automation, and digital learning may change Training and Development, progression pathways, and leadership requirements.
  • Provide visible leadership for the Training & Development team, setting clear direction, priorities, service standards, and accountabilities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members; set objectives, manage performance and capacity, build succession, and ensure the team has the required capability.
  • Create an integrated team plan that balances cyclical T&C and regulatory activity with the wider learning agenda and priorities.
  • Manage relevant budgets, suppliers, learning platforms, and external professional relationships.

Requirements

  • Proven senior level experience in HR, either in a generalist or specialist capacity with demonstrable hands-on experience of supporting a Training & Competence framework in a UK financial services environment.
  • Strong experience in delivering commercial and pragmatic learning and development programmes across all levels.
  • Strong working knowledge of FCA T&C expectations, SM&CR, Conduct Rules, Fitness & Propriety, and Consumer Duty, and the ability to apply these pragmatically.
  • Experience of competence assessment, supervision frameworks, CPD/SPS controls, T&C record management, and governance reporting.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify meaningful trends, and translate MI into focused actions and senior-level recommendations.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and able to work effectively with learning, HR, or competence-management systems.
  • High personal credibility, sound judgement, and confidence to constructively challenge senior stakeholders while maintaining trusted relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to make complex regulatory and technical issues clear and practical.
  • Organised, detail-focused, and resilient, with the ability to manage cyclical regulatory activity alongside improvement work.
  • Client-outcome focused, commercially aware, and committed to high standards of integrity, fairness, and confidentiality.
  • Collaborative leadership style, with the ability to coach supervisors and influence colleagues across front office and control functions.
  • Proactive, curious, and improvement-oriented; able to distinguish a genuine learning need from issues of process, supervision, conduct, or accountability.
  • Adaptable and open to change, with the ability to respond constructively to evolving regulatory expectations, business priorities, systems, and ways of working.
