About the Role
This is a graduate opportunity to join a specialist, fast-growing London Market MGA. You will underwrite a small-ticket US miscellaneous professional liability book and support core operational processes. This hands-on role offers early responsibility, direct exposure to senior underwriters, and the chance to grow with an expanding business, serving as an exceptional entry point into the London Market.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite incoming US miscellaneous professional liability submissions, applying underwriting guidelines and binder parameters.
- Refer risks outside authority to senior underwriters.
- Manage the submission pipeline on the MGA's underwriting platform, validating ingested data for accuracy and completeness.
- Help grow the book by building broker relationships, responding to quotes and queries, and increasing submission volumes.
- Support day-to-day operational activity, including policy administration and documentation.
- Work with the finance and operations team.
- Contribute to bordereaux, binder reporting, and control checks.
- Identify recurring issues and suggest practical improvements to processes, including leveraging technology and automation.
- Communicate clearly and professionally to build relationships with brokers, capacity providers, and colleagues.
- Demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning, interest in insurance and MGA operations, and confidence to ask questions.
Requirements
- No prior insurance experience is required.
- Confident working with data in Excel, including lookups, pivots, and basic reconciliations.
- Comfortable learning new systems and technology quickly.
- Methodical, detail-oriented, and reliable, taking pride in accuracy.
- Ability to manage own workload, handle a high volume of smaller tasks, and balance priorities.
- Hunger, initiative, and willingness to get involved as the business scales.
