About the Role

This role sits within the Bank's Personnel Security function, helping protect the Bank of England, its people, and its operations from insider, personal safety, and security risks. The role focuses on assessing, managing, and mitigating risks linked to business travel, working from abroad, Bank-hosted or attended events, public-facing colleagues, and referrals relating to individuals who may pose a risk to the Bank or its people.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive security risk assessments to Bank personnel, making informed recommendations and escalating issues where appropriate.
Provide pre and post-travel briefings with tailored security recommendations for overseas travel.
Offer colleagues support during travel emergencies, liaising with relevant providers and authorities.
Conduct risk assessments for events attended or hosted by Bank colleagues.
Perform personal security risk assessments, providing recommendations and delivering mitigations for high-risk Bank colleagues or teams.
Monitor and analyze threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents relevant to travellers or events, including crime, terrorism, political instability, current affairs, activism, natural disasters, and health risks.
Support the development, implementation, and updating of safety and security policies, procedures, and guidance.
Support the Bank's security education program.
Professionally represent the Bank and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Support the Bank's counter eavesdropping/electronic monitoring activity, including conducting sweeps to identify devices of concern.

Requirements

Recent experience making evidence-based security risk decisions, including assessing threats, vulnerabilities, likelihood, impact, and appropriate mitigations.
Proven experience conducting interviews, briefings, or structured information-gathering in a security, investigative, or risk context.
Experience gathering and analyzing information from various sources (security, geopolitical, travel, events) to inform risk assessments and decisions.
Experience communicating clearly and confidently with stakeholders, including senior colleagues, while handling sensitive information with discretion.
Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and securely.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: travel security, event security, executive protection, or physical/personnel security.
Demonstrable ability to produce clear, accurate written advice, reports, and recommendations for varied audiences, including senior stakeholders.
Proven attention to detail, with evidence of identifying relevant risks, inconsistencies, and information gaps.
Track record of managing busy workloads, prioritizing competing demands, and escalating issues appropriately with limited direction.
Clear evidence of building trusted working relationships across internal teams and external partners, representing the Bank professionally and with discretion.
Experience of or qualifications in residential security and of counter-eavesdropping/technical surveillance countermeasures or NACE-accredited qualification.
Ability to support the development of policies, procedures, guidance, training, or awareness material in a practical and accessible way.
