About the Role
Welocalize is seeking a native-level Kannada speaker for a confidential AI and consumer technology program. This hands-on, on-site role involves evaluating a pre-release AI model and testing product performance on a smartphone and smart glass. Your judgment will shape the technology's quality before its public release.
Responsibilities
- Review pre-release AI model output in Kannada, judging accuracy, naturalness, appropriateness, and overall quality.
- Fact-check AI model responses against source material.
- Test the Kannada user experience against the English version, confirming feature parity.
- Complete a full user journey using non-English input.
- Verify correct handling of non-Latin script, diacritics, right-to-left text, and mixed-language input.
- Identify and report display issues such as text cutoff, overflow, or rendering problems.
- Report localization errors including incorrect dates, numbers, currencies, units, or untranslated strings.
- Document issues clearly for developers, including steps to reproduce, device, OS, locale, build ID, and evidence.
- Retest issues after fixes are implemented to confirm resolution.
- Provide feedback on navigation, usability, and language-specific nuances from a native speaker's perspective.
- Work on-site in a private, secure area of the Welocalize office.
- Support other linguistic projects as needed.
Requirements
- Native-level or fully bilingual Kannada, written and spoken.
- Current understanding of everyday and technical Kannada usage.
- Proficiency with smartphones and laptops, comfortable switching between iOS and Android.
- A sharp eye for detail and fair, objective judgment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to follow detailed test scripts and guidelines.
- Ability to clearly explain issues in English.
- Previous experience in software or app testing, localization QA, or linguistic evaluation is a strong plus.
