About the Role
This is a hands-on role where you’ll play an important part in keeping the yard safe, organised and running efficiently, while providing excellent service to our customers. Working as part of a busy branch team, you’ll support the receipt, storage and preparation of timber, building, fencing and landscaping products for customer collections and deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading deliveries safely and efficiently
- Picking and preparing customer orders accurately
- Organising and maintaining stock within the yard
- Supporting customers with collections and loading purchases where appropriate
- Checking goods for quality and reporting any shortages or damage
- Working closely with branch colleagues, drivers and the sales team
- Keeping the yard, warehouse and surrounding areas clean, tidy and well organised
- Following all company health and safety procedures
- Using yard equipment responsibly and completing all required checks
Requirements
- Experience in a yard, warehouse, builders’ merchant, distribution or similar environment is essential
- A live forklift licence
- A positive, hardworking and reliable approach
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good attention to detail when picking and handling products
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- Good communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding role
- Flexibility to support the needs of a busy branch
