About the Role
As a Supermarket Assistant Branch Cook, you will prepare hot and cold food for Partners in the back-of-house kitchen and support the shop floor team with various tasks. You will ensure smooth kitchen operations, maintain a clean and safe environment, manage food portions to minimize waste, and adhere to high hygiene standards. Additionally, you will assist with stock replenishment, fulfill online orders, manage markdowns, and support general shopkeeping duties.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the smooth running of the kitchen.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe kitchen environment.
- Manage portion control, preparation, and storage methods to avoid food wastage.
- Adhere to high food hygiene standards.
- Replenish stock and ensure products are correctly placed on shelves.
- Fulfill online customer orders.
- Reduce wastage by following product due diligence and markdowns.
- Support the wider shop team with tasks including checkout support and managing customer orders.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment with general shopkeeping tasks.
Requirements
- Experience working as a cook in a catering or hospitality environment.
- Passion for food and serving a varied and nutritious menu.
- Customer-focused with the ability to engage partners with the food on offer.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness, driving sales within the partner dining room, while controlling costs and wastage.
- Flexible and adaptable to work between kitchen and shop floor as required.
