About the Role
Lead the transition management of transactions from contract signing through to implementation handover, managing transition teams and end-to-end scheme flow. Translate priorities into delivery plans, allocate work, monitor performance, and escalate risks. Focus on external and commercial relationships with Employee Benefit Consultants (EBCs) and professional trustees, supporting new business and improving processes while ensuring client commitments are met. Collaborate across teams to design, implement, and embed new propositions.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of transition teams, setting priorities and overseeing scheme allocation.
- Deliver a consistent, high-quality transition experience for trustees, EBCs, and other stakeholders.
- Drive trustee communication and engagement, managing expectations according to scheme timelines.
- Ensure agreed controls and vetting requirements are completed for accurate data onboarding.
- Act as the operational point of contact for the Commercial team on prospective and in-flight transactions.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships across the EBC market, managing queries and escalations.
- Lead, coach, and support the management team, setting objectives and creating development opportunities.
- Manage the team’s contribution to commercial activity, including capability materials and client discussions.
- Oversee project and stakeholder management across all transitions through to final premium settlement.
- Review data cleanse extension requests and recovery plans, escalating material risks.
- Coordinate transition input to change and technology initiatives, ensuring operational requirements are met.
- Produce accurate and timely management information for operational governance and committees.
Requirements
- Proven planning and organizational skills to manage a varied portfolio, competing priorities, and team capacity.
- Ability to work independently and through others to tight deadlines with strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of the life and pensions industry, particularly DB pensions, the DB de-risking market, and the roles of EBCs and professional trustees.
- Strong influencing and relationship-management skills to work effectively with stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong problem analysis, decision-making, and resolution skills with sound judgment on escalation.
- Strong operational, project, people, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in a transition, implementation, operations, or relationship management role within DB de-risking.
- Relevant experience within the DB pensions industry is essential.
- Experience of managing complex or large scheme transitions is desirable.
- Experience of working with trustees, EBCs, and commercial colleagues.
- Previous people-management experience in an operations, implementation, or customer service environment is beneficial.
