About the Role
The Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforces (APST) model has been successfully piloted since November 2021, demonstrating transformative results for participating schools. This model enables rapid, early, and appropriate intervention, enhancing school practices and improving educational and safeguarding outcomes for children and young people. APST is a workforce model designed to build capacity and capabilities for rapid, responsive understanding and intervention for children. Taskforces are multi-disciplinary teams that provide holistic support to children, young people, and their families who are in alternative provision or at risk of exclusion or suspension from mainstream school. Barnet is enhancing existing arrangements by establishing specialist professionals working as a single multi-disciplinary team within schools, PRUs, and as part of the Barnet Local Inclusion Support Offer. The aim is to holistically address the challenges children and young people face to help them re-engage with education, stay safe, and succeed in school and beyond. This includes support for SEN needs, mental wellbeing, regulation, behavior, and safeguarding. APST teams offer direct support to children and families, share information, provide training and advice to schools, and embed practices within the whole school. The post holder will report to the Head of Specialist Inclusion Service and collaborate with APST, Multi-Disciplinary Teams, schools, settings, and the wider professional network within the Local Area SEND and AP system. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, friendly, and supportive team dedicated to providing high-quality service to schools and settings.
