About the Role
The Social Worker will function as an Employee Assistance Counselor (EAC) within the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) of Mount Sinai Health System. This role involves assisting the Program Director with program operations, delivering Employee Assistance (EA) services, including critical incident response, consultation, and short-term counseling for health system faculty, staff, and their families. The EAC will also develop and deliver training programs and provide feedback on organizational issues. This position is ideal for early career practitioners and new/recent MSW graduates.
Responsibilities
- Provide short-term, problem-focused counseling and referral services for personal issues including marital, family, behavioral health, stress management, substance use, and other concerns.
- Conduct individual assessments, including record reviews, collateral contacts, and consultations with other professionals.
- Formulate service plans and make appropriate referrals for evaluation and treatment.
- Refer clients to other services as needed for medical evaluation, treatment, or social services.
- Develop internal and external resources with service providers for behavioral health concerns.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with appropriate care providers and key organizational stakeholders.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety management plans.
- Assume operational responsibility for EA colleagues during absences (PTO, FMLA, MLOA).
- Develop and provide educational/training programs regarding EA services.
- Develop and distribute promotional materials to increase program visibility and utilization.
- Prepare and maintain confidential case records and reports.
- Participate in the graduate education program.
- Recommend suggestions for optimal service delivery and perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- NYS LMSW.
- Prior EAP experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated capacity for critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Organizational and clinical knowledge relevant to resolving complex workplace problems.
- Knowledge of organizational policies and best practices in behavioral health counseling, critical incident response, behavioral risk assessment, wellness, and work/family life balance.
- Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Minimum one year in current position.
