About the Role

Independently perform surgery scheduling for multiple subspecialty surgical services, assist in coordinating provider schedules to manage patient care, and provide excellent customer care in an ambulatory setting at a top-ranked children's hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgeries.
  • Establish and maintain an efficient system for filing and retrieval of documents.
  • Answer telephones professionally, take accurate messages, and take necessary action on messages.
  • Perform patient registration procedures.
  • Ensure all necessary patient forms are provided and completed for surgery.
  • Communicate with patients, staff, and providers regarding patient arrivals, delays, and surgery processes.
  • Alert clinic staff and providers of any changes or discrepancies in a patient's scheduled surgery.
  • Refer patients with insurance or funding concerns to the financial counselor or prior-authorization department.
  • Provide daily status of all surgical appointments.
  • Assist licensed staff with non-financial aspects of inpatient admission.
  • Receive completed medical records and follow up with providers for missing records.
  • Work with patients and family to determine surgery dates.
  • Assure efficient patient throughput from clinic to the operating room.
  • Coordinate schedules.
  • Manage customer service and communication.
  • Perform other job-related functions.
  • Undergo respiratory fit testing.

Requirements

  • Required H.S. Diploma or GED.
  • Required 3 years Healthcare experience (medical assistant, front desk specialist, administrative assistant).
  • Preferred prior work in an Ambulatory Clinic environment.
