About the Role
Forward Deployed Engineers are the client-facing builders at Varick. You embed with enterprise stakeholders, conduct interviews, deploy agents, and iterate on POCs. This role requires clear communication, an operator mindset, and engineering skills to map processes, build prototypes, and manage client adoption through training and change management.
Responsibilities
- Embed with client teams across departments to map how work gets done, identifying exceptions and inter-team handoffs.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into well-defined agent workflows with success criteria, guardrails, and evaluation plans.
- Co-create KPIs with clients, establish baselines, and propose solutions for monitoring post-deployment uplift.
- Drive adoption by training client teams, observing user behavior, and iterating on agents.
- Present findings, prototypes, and results directly to C-suite stakeholders.
- Codify successful approaches into Varick's playbooks and toolkit, sharing field insights with the platform team.
- Build and leverage relationships with existing clients to identify opportunities for further AI transformation.
Requirements
- A track record of solving complex, ambiguous problems for senior stakeholders and delivering results.
- AI-native with experience using tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, and building with LLMs (prompt design, agents, evals).
- Strong communication and client presence, capable of commanding executive attention and tailoring communication to different audiences.
- Analytical mindset with a high learning gradient, able to quickly grasp new topics and present well-researched answers.
- Technical proficiency including Python or SQL, API experience, and the ability to read data models and follow traces.
- Experience shipping real products, internal tools, models, or automations that people depended on.
