About the Role
Pocket Concierge, a subsidiary of American Express, is seeking a back-end engineer to contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of features in their Rails application. The role involves working with various stakeholders and offers opportunities for growth and feature ownership.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of features in a Rails application.
- Work alongside technical and non-technical stakeholders, including Information Security and Compliance teams.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical discussions.
- Take ownership of features from initial discussion through implementation and release.
Requirements
- Professional experience developing modern web applications using an MVC web framework.
- Experience building and working with web APIs (e.g. REST or GraphQL).
- Experience writing automated tests and familiarity with common testing practices.
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English within the engineering team.
Skills
- Ruby/Rails experience is preferred but not required.
- Japanese language ability.
- Experience using React, or similar frontend frameworks.
