About the Role
The Observatory Ambassador plays an integral role in providing unique, memorable experiences for NYC area, national, and international guests at the One World Observatory, focusing on guest experience and engagement with Observatory offerings.
Responsibilities
- Greeting guests as they enter assigned areas
- Ensure the safety of our guests while on tour or in assigned areas
- Providing a high level of customer service by engaging guests, answering questions, resolving issues, and providing service to ensure a great experience
- Retaining learned knowledge and subsequently share it with guests by providing operational answers (e.g., observatory layout, experience locations) to all inquiries
- Performing and presenting information in a concise, audible manner to guests—speaking loudly, clearly, and having a commanding presence
- Performing other duties as necessary or as required by management
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year’s experience hosting in a guest-facing role (e.g., entertainment, hospitality)
- Sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks including constant reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time
- Ability to always demonstrate a high level of professionalism and customer service
- Ability to engage guests and work in a busy, highly interactive environment
- Ability to memorize historical and technical information
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and transport items weighing 10-20 pounds (occasionally 30)
- Ability to work non-traditional hours (nights, weekends & holidays as necessary)
Skills
- Multi-lingual and sign language capabilities preferred
- Energetic and outgoing personality
