About the Role
Altis Consulting is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer who enjoys working closely with both technology and clients. This role involves shaping technical approaches to business problems and leading them to practical outcomes, working across modern data platforms and engineering solutions, building client relationships, and developing junior consultants.
Responsibilities
- Design scalable data platforms, pipelines, integration and analytics solutions.
- Work across modern cloud technologies including Databricks, Snowflake and the Microsoft/Azure ecosystem.
- Translate complex business requirements into clear technical solutions.
- Guide and mentor consultants and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
- Build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to create additional value for clients and contribute to proposals and solution shaping.
Requirements
- Strong experience across data engineering, architecture or analytics consulting.
- Comfortable operating directly with clients.
- Experience across modern data engineering and data modelling.
- Experience with cloud data platforms - Databricks, Snowflake, Azure or comparable technologies.
- Databricks experience essential.
- Experience with SQL and modern data integration/ELT patterns.
- Experience with data quality, governance and sustainable engineering practices.
- Experience leading projects or small technical teams.
- Experience in consulting, advisory or client-facing delivery.
- Strong foundations, sound technical judgement and an ability to learn.
- Enjoy solving ambiguous problems.
- Ability to challenge thinking respectfully.
- Ability to know when a technically impressive solution isn't necessarily the right business solution.
- Comfortable talking architecture with engineers.
- Comfortable explaining the value of the solution to an executive stakeholder.
