About the Role
This posting is for a journeyperson mechanic with the pipefitter specialty. Only candidates who have completed a formal apprenticeship in this discipline may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Performs mechanical, civil and structural construction, maintenance and repair work on project features including reservoir, concrete dams, powerhouse, appurtenant structures and buildings, with marine equipment and all fixed or movable machinery and other equipment.
- Measures, cuts, and threads pipe to specifications and drawings using various tools.
- Assembles and secures pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications and drawings.
- Attaches pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, and tools.
- Inspects, examines, and tests installed systems and pipe lines.
- Modifies, cleans, and maintains pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment.
- Operates motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes or facility floors.
Requirements
- Must be proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation.
- Must be proficient in equipment setting techniques using precision levels and other precision alignment tools and equipment.
- Must be proficient in rigging machine parts, selection of rigging devices and equipment, use of hand signals, and operating bridge cranes.
- Must possess knowledge of basic workplace safety practices, such as personal protective equipment and lock out/tag out procedures.
- Must be proficient in the installation, replacement, and repair of plumbing fixtures, devices, and trim.
- Must be able to perform all tasks associated with the duties of a power house mechanic.
