About the Role
This role contributes to developing Economics and Science products and services in the Fee domain, specializing in supply chain systems and fees. You will act as a key and senior scientist, advising Amazon leaders on service pricing and developing frameworks and scalable models for optimal pricing and policy in a two-sided marketplace.
Responsibilities
- Develop causal links for how Amazon, Sellers, and Customers interact through the lens of economics.
- Develop frameworks and scalable, repeatable models supporting optimal pricing and policy.
- Partner with science and technology teams across Amazon including Advertising, Supply Chain, Operations, Prime, Consumer Pricing, and Finance.
- Improve understanding of seller Economics.
- Enhance the ability to estimate the causal impact of fees.
- Work with partner teams to design pricing policy changes.
- Provide guidance to scientists to develop econometric models to influence fee pricing worldwide.
- Lead the development of causal models to help isolate the impact of fee and policy changes.
- Integrate economic insights into policy and systems production.
- Work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff.
- Adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies.
Requirements
- Extensive Economics knowledge.
- Demonstrated strength in practical and policy relevant structural econometrics.
- Strong collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to lead highly ambiguous and large projects.
- A drive to deliver results.
- Familiarity with systems and services that constitute seller supply chains is a plus but not required.
- PhD in economics or equivalent.
- 3+ years of industry, consulting, government, or academic research experience.
- Knowledge of at least one statistical software package such as R, Stata, Matlab, SAS.
- Experience in prediction and forecasting in a research or industrial environment.
- Experience with handling of large datasets.
