About the Role
As the Head of Liquidity and Capital Markets, you will own the liquidity strategy and execution for Open USD. Your mission: build deep markets on all relevant venues, on and off-chain, ensure listings wherever our partners trade, and secure acceptance as collateral at major protocols. This is a rare opportunity to build the liquidity function from the ground up, with the budget, mandate, and team leadership needed as Open USD scales across new venues and chains.
Responsibilities
- Own the liquidity capital plan across every chain and venue
- Select and manage market makers and liquidity providers: negotiate loans, incentives, and exposures in partnership with Finance and Legal
- Negotiate deals with chains, foundations, and protocols to list, pool, and accept Open USD as collateral
- Manage exchange listings end-to-end, including due diligence and market making commitments
- Build relationships with key custodians, oracles, bridges, and on/off ramps
- Design growth programs ensuring spend results in lasting adoption and usage
- Lead analytics: map partner demand, track depth and volume, monitor incentive ROI, and manage consultants and data vendors
- Sequence launches and run the go/no-go process in partnership with the CEO
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience at the intersection of DeFi and business development – preferably at a protocol, stablecoin issuer, exchange, chain, market maker, or crypto-native fintech
- Detailed knowledge of onchain market structure: lending market risk parameters, collateral onboarding, AMM pool design, vault and curator models, incentive mechanisms, and how depth forms in a new pair
- Understand the issuer’s perspective: mint/redemption flows and depth management under stress
- Strong relationships with protocol teams, market makers, and DeFi businesses
- Structured incentive programs and market maker arrangements that resulted in durable liquidity, and can illustrate before-and-after outcomes
- Sourced and funded liquidity for a new asset and defended the plan to a board
- Deep knowledge of market maker commercial structures and the ability to distinguish between real and artificial volume/depth
- Sufficient quantitative fluency to independently model incentive returns and market maker economics
