About the Role
Medical Scribes assist Providers during patient encounters to ensure direct patient interaction. Responsibilities include obtaining medical history, documenting dictated notes in the EMR, facilitating diagnostic tests, and providing customer service. This role is ideal for individuals interested in advancing their education and careers in medicine.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a quick pace in a fast-paced outpatient facility for the duration of the scheduled shift (8-12 hours excluding breaks).
- Engage in direct patient interaction, including rooming patients, taking vital signs, and collecting demographics and medical history.
- Document patient orders, referrals, and follow-up information on behalf of providers.
- Provide compassionate care to patients.
- Assist physicians with basic patient care and medical procedure setups.
- Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician guidance.
- Help maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment.
- Assist with training and acclimation of new hire scribes.
Requirements
- A High School Degree or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Friendly and professional demeanor with excellent bedside manner.
- Computer and typing skills required; minimum of 45 wpm.
- Flexible full-time work schedule, including rotating weekends.
- Passion for helping others in an outpatient setting.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience in any service industry is a plus.
- Must exhibit passion for outstanding results and compassion for colleagues and patients.
- Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.
- Bilingual language skills required or preferred based on on-site location.
